“It was about this time that King Herod arrested some who belonged to the church, intending to persecute them. He had James, the brother of John, put to death with the sword. “I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do everything through him who gives me strength.”
Philippians 4:12-13

It used to puzzle me when I would see God answer similar prayers in opposite ways. One person is healed and the other one dies; one prospers and the other one lives with meager material things; one appears to be blessed and the other not. Now I simply trust Him and pray that He will meet my needs and the needs of others according to His will. All I want is for Him to help me be content, enjoy fellowship with Him and patiently wait for those things I desire. When I am focused on Him and His Kingdom the events that are happening in the physical realm are like a roller coaster. Whatever happens, regardless of whether it appears good or bad, I pray for His grace to have an attitude of gratefulness and experience uninterrupted fellowship with the Lord.
