Over the last three football seasons, my son Cody’s high school football team lost only one regular-season game. Everyone was sad and disappointed after that one loss. Cody dislikes losing very much, but after shaking hands with the opponents, he felt something different. God was prompting him to go back across the field and pray with a player from the opposing team who had been injured during the game. A parent from that team got a photo of the moment and posted it on social media. Over a million people saw the importance of obedience to God taking precedence over wins and losses.
In verse two of Psalm 126, the writer states that other nations will see the great things that God has done for His people. When we express laughter and joy in our lives, people around us will take notice. In a world dominated by grumbling and complaining, happiness, positivity, and true joy stand out.
Even after a football game, people are watching. Do your behaviors consistently illustrate an obedience to God and a joy in following Him? An unknown writer once penned, “Give the world Jesus; use words when necessary.”
