My biggest enemy is my ego. When I am abiding in Jesus Christ and walking in His light, the variety of forms with which my ego can disguise itself to distract me are seemingly infinite. Even though I know they are only illusions, the source of their power is always residing within me as a desire. It may simply be my curiosity or inquisitiveness for discovering something interesting and intriguing, but the objects of my diversion are always of this world. I pray for a pure heart so that these seductive and fascinating thoughts have nothing to which they can attach themselves and draw me away from my conscious awareness of the Lord’s presence.
"Desire without knowledge is not good— how much more will hasty feet miss the way! A person’s own folly leads to their ruin, yet their heart rages against the Lord."
Psalm 19:2-3
"When tempted, no one should say, 'God is tempting me.' For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death."
James 1:13-15
