“When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?” “Yes, Lord,” he said, “you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Feed my lambs.” Again Jesus said, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” He answered, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Take care of my sheep.””
John 21:15-16
“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”
2 Corinthians 4:16-18

Growing up in a pastor’s home, I’m so grateful for the dedication and faithfulness my parents modeled and instilled in my siblings and me from a young age. Church and God have always had a huge place in my life…but it wasn’t until college where the truth of these two passages truly began to sink in. I learned by God’s grace that He wasn’t asking me to make Him a big part of my life or even the most significant piece. No, He had something even better for me…as my Author and Creator, He knew that true growth in Him starts by surrendering my whole life to God…surrendering all the pieces. All my goals, all my decisions, all my possessions, all my time, all my talents, and all that I treasured…He asks for it all. And while I’ll be the first to say I in no way have done it perfectly, I can truly attest to being renewed day by day despite the many limits I encounter daily.

Lord, please grow my love for You even deeper. Please help me not lose heart when it gets hard, and may You help me surrender my whole being all the more as I live.
