But when the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees with his reply, they met together to question him again. One of them, an expert in religious law, tried to trap him with this question: “Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?” Jesus replied, “‘You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.”
Matthew 22:34-40

(Part 1)

Of all the commandments that Jesus could have given, He says “You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.” Loving God requires us to surrender ALL of ourselves to Him. God already knows every part that encompass who we are. We love God by entrusting Him with our thoughts, our plans, our emotions, our motives, our desires, and our ideas. When loving God is our first priority, our perspective about the things and people around us shifts. We see things more like God sees them, our eyes are able to focus on eternal things. How can you love God better with your heart? Your soul? Your mind?
