“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.’”
Psalm 91:1-2

God gave me the ability to think. It is a tremendous gift and I am very grateful for it.

However, when it is under the control of my old nature, the compulsive thoughts it generates which focus on negative, speculative events become the biggest obstacle I face and they drain me of the Lord’s peace and joy. This is especially true in the area of finances.

When I am abiding in His presence, I don’t worry or concern myself with anything in the future. As long as I sense the Lord’s presence, I have tremendous confidence that He will make everything work together for a positive outcome.

However, when something prompts me to be absorbed in an imaginary dialogue about threatening situations, my ego takes over and I disregard the reality of His presence.

I pray that in those moments of unconsciousness I will just be still and refocus my attention on Him.
