“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
2 Timothy 3:16-17
“For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”
Hebrews 4:12

I was given a Bible very early in my life but I hardly ever read it. It was very difficult for me to understand and I found no pleasure in reading it. It wasn’t until I found joy in knowing my sins were forgiven that I became interested in learning about the kingdom of God.

I was almost twenty two years old when the man who guided me in coming to faith in Christ helped me find a Study Bible that really got me started reading it. He encouraged me to begin with the book of John and gave me a question and answer study guide to follow as I went verse by verse and answered the questions.

It didn’t take long before I found great pleasure in learning about my new spiritual realities and made the discovery that Scripture was food for my soul. The Holy Spirit is an awesome teacher and for me there is only one primary text book and that is the Bible.

God uses many different people in our lives to guide us in our growth from living our lives man’s way to living God’s way. When we start following Jesus we need to learn to swim upstream. The source of our river of life is the throne of God. The closer we get to it, the purer the water.
