“Most of the crowd spread their cloaks on the road, and others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. And the crowds that went before him and that followed him were shouting, ‘Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!’ And when he entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred up, saying, ‘Who is this?’ And the crowds said, ‘This is the prophet Jesus, from Nazareth of Galilee.’”
Matthew 21:8-11

One of the most exciting places to be is inside a stadium at an event with high stakes. Whether a playoff sports game, concert, or another event, you can feel the anticipation, the excitement in the room, the sense of wonder from people, people scoping out the best seats, the best views.

Similar feelings of excitement, anticipation, and awe wash over me as I read these verses. Except we are not talking about a sports event or an earthly event. Here the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords, the Prince of Peace, is making his triumphal entry into Jerusalem. When we come to Christ, we follow a humble (yet powerful) King.
