"Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on them, and to our God, for he will freely pardon. 'For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,' declares the Lord. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts."
Isaiah 55:7-9
"No matter how many promises God has made, they are 'Yes' in Christ. And so, through him the 'Amen' is spoken by us to the glory of God. Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come."
2 Corinthians 1:20-22

God’s promises are always consistent, reliable and trustworthy. My problems have always been caused by my natural tendency to rely on my own understanding, perspective and intelligence. It isn’t that God doesn’t want me to think. Instead of trusting Him, however, my false presuppositions dominated my interpretations of the situations in which I found myself. For many years I had to seek God because I was muddled in the darkness of my nonconformity to His ways. Now, God’s commitment to His word is more reliable to me than my circumstances and I don’t have to seek Him any longer. His simple promise that He will never leave me is enough for me to know in order to find purpose in every experience. I am grateful that when I asked, He answered; when I sought Him, He revealed Himself to me; when I knocked, He opened the door.
