Baptism

Baptism is as an outward expression of that inward reality of our faith in Jesus!

Three Reasons We Get Baptized as Followers of Jesus

1. To follow Jesus’ example

Jesus was baptized, and as His followers, baptism is one way we follow His example.

“As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, ‘This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.’”

Matthew 3:13–17

2. As a response to what Jesus has done for us

Baptism is a step of obedience and a response to the new life we have received through Jesus.

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit…”

Matthew 28:16–20

3. As an outward expression of an inward reality

Baptism is a public expression of the inward change that has taken place through faith in Jesus.

“Having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through your faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead.”

Colossians 2:12
