Joel Hernandez
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:
Philippians 2: 3-5

Humility doesn’t always come naturally. We often find ourselves focused on our needs, ambitions, and desires. Yet, we are called to live with a different mindset—one where we value others above ourselves and intentionally care for their needs. This isn’t about neglecting our own well-being but instead shifting our perspective to see others’ struggles, joys, and needs as just as important as our own.

When we practice this kind of humility, we reflect the character of Christ. He showed us what it looks like to serve others with no strings attached, not driven by pride or recognition but by love. This doesn’t mean it’s easy. It takes effort to put aside selfishness and choose to honor others, especially when it’s inconvenient or uncomfortable.

Each time we choose humility, we begin to see things from a new perspective. Setting aside self-interest to serve others draws us closer to the heart of Jesus. Humility becomes less about sacrifice and more about the joy and fulfillment we gain from reflecting Christ’s love to those around us.

Today, how can you intentionally practice humility by looking out for the interests of others?
