Death is not final. This passage in Isaiah serves as a gentle yet powerful reminder to me that because of God’s grace, there’s more to come. When things don’t go my way, there’s more to come. When things seem to be getting worse, not better, there’s more to come. The same God who defeated death is right here with me in my momentary trouble. I’m challenged that the same truth also applies in the easy times of life, yet, there’s still more to come.
Am I choosing to spend my time doing what will matter after my time here on earth? Consciously living, loving, and leading with eternity in mind? I wish I could always answer yes, but so often, I find myself caught up in the moment, taking matters into my own hands, counting out our all-knowing and all-powerful Father. Lord, please help me instead to trust and wait on You, cling to Your resurrecting power, and live each moment in light of what will matter most in eternity.
