I accepted the gift of salvation when I was young, and I was baptized at 6 years old. I remember vividly the look on my Dad’s face as he baptized me in the name of the Father, Spirit, and Son. I believed in Jesus, I understood the Gospel, and I committed then to live my life for Him. At that point, the fellowship of believers became a coworker with my parents in the nurturing of my spiritual development. Over the years, as a continual student of the Gospel and a consistent participant in the goings-on of the Church, I have become one of many examples of how the fellowship of believers, devotion to the apostles’ teaching, and prayer loves, protects, corrects, and empowers those who are in Christ. When I am wrong…I receive corrections. When I am hurt…I am comforted. When I am weak…I am lifted up. When I am confused…I am supported. When I am sick…I am healed. All of this and more through the gift of the Church…His church…the very bride of Christ for whom he died. What a humbling and awe-inspiring reality it is that God has provided for us a place to grow and be loved. May I never lose the wonder and awe of the day I first believed and may wonder and confirming miracles continue to happen in our midst!
“42 They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.43 [Everyone kept feeling a sense of awe; and many wonders and signs were taking place through the apostles.”
Acts 2:42-43
