One thing I have never questioned was the credibility of the Ten Commandments. Before I came to faith in Christ I recognized their value as a way to live my life. My problem was that I was guilty of breaking many of them. I had no interest in following the ways of God because I loved darkness instead of light. I didn’t want to live my life without the things I thought would bring me pleasure, even though the enjoyment was very temporary. Jesus had a hunger and thirst for righteousness that was unprecedented. He found pleasure in doing things that brought delight to His Heavenly Father. He wasn’t afraid of the law; He embraced it. He knew that whatever God decreed would happen. He trusted Him without reservation and had absolute confidence in God’s ways. As I am transformed from my conditioned way of viewing life to a godly perspective I realize how my former way of thinking was nothing more than a pipe dream. I pray that God will help me embrace His ways progressively more and more as Jesus did.
“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.”
Matthew 5:17
“For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so He condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.”
Romans 8:3-4
