For many years I used my freedom to make choices that were selfish and disregarded any thought about pleasing the Lord. The results were negative and many of the attempts I made at trying to straighten out the crooked path I was taking were based on lies and false assumptions. My volition is a powerful tool that God gave me but I used it to follow the desires of my sinful nature. The result of my rebellion against Him was putting more and more distance between us. I am so grateful that He allowed me to reap what I was sowing. I never realized how alienated I was from Him because we had never had an intimate relationship. When I heard that He knew my need and met it through the death, burial and resurrection of Christ, I was reconciled to Him by simply confessing my sin and believing in my heart that Jesus Christ is Lord. The burden He lifted from my shoulders was the most liberating experience I have ever known. The truth of God’s word set me free and the reconciliation I have with Him now is my most precious possession.
“All who do evil hate the light and refuse to go near it for fear their sins will be exposed. [21] But those who do what is right come to the light so others can see that they are doing what God wants.”
John 3:20-21
“I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes— the Jew first and also the Gentile. This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, ‘It is through faith that a righteous person has life.’”
Romans 1:16-17
