I never used to think that God was my enemy. Now, however, I am grateful that He is no longer my adversary, nor I His. When I was in charge of my life, setting my own agenda, determining what was right for me based on my carnal desires, we were in continual conflict. By surrendering my will to His and desiring His will to be done on earth as it is in heaven, I can rest in the assurance that no matter what happens, I don’t have to fear anything. The pressure from which I am relieved makes every circumstance a joyful experience because I am sharing it with the Lord. His mercy and grace sustain me in every situation. People and problems that used to irritate and annoy me are now opportunities to witness His power and love working in my life and the lives of my family, my friends and my enemies. I am grateful that we are now friends.
“For if, when we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!”
Romans 5:10
“For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”
Colossians 1:13-14
