“But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift. Therefore it says, ‘When He ascended on high, He led captive the captives, and gave gifts to His people.’ (Now this expression, ‘He ascended,’ what does it mean except that He also descended to the lower parts of the earth? He who descended is Himself also He who ascended far above all the heavens, so that He might fill the whole universe.).”
Ephesians 4:7-10
“You have ascended on high, You have led captive Your captives; You have received gifts among people, even among the rebellious as well, – that the Lord God, may dwell there.”
Psalm 68:18

Paul’s use of the word grace when speaking of spiritual gifts couldn’t be more accurate. Isn’t it astounding that Jesus not only redeemed us from eternal separation from Him but also showed incredibly unmerited favor by bestowing gifts upon each of us? The ascended, victorious Christ, has given spiritual gifts to his followers to extend His sovereign reign over the whole earth…amazing! These gifts are Christ’s invitation to us to join him in his redemptive work.

Pastor Jose has spoken over the past few weeks on being Anchored in Christ. We dug into the first verses of Ephesians 4 and found anchors in checking our Posture and Position to maintain unity in the body. We shift this week to looking at these beautiful spiritual gifts and the blessed invitation we have to experience the dynamic fullness of the church.

Oh, Jesus – we exalt Your name today! Thank You for saving us! Thank You for spiritual gifts that draw us into Your magnificent work. By the sensitivity and power of Your Spirit, we are waiting and watching for Your movement in those we encounter today – that we might join You in Your beloved work.
