"You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you."
John 15:16

How freeing is it to know that God chooses us first, not the other way around!? For most of my life, I have struggled with the weight and guilt of feeling like I let God down when I know I miss the mark or don’t meet the standard that He has called me to. I have to constantly remind myself of this truth: I cannot let God down because I was never the one holding Him up in the first place. I get it completely backward sometimes, but this reminder breathes life into my spirit.

God has always been the one to hold me up, not the other way around. He chose me and loved me first. That is where freedom in Christ is truly found. I’m free to live for Him and pursue Him because I’ve already been pursued and chosen. Then from the overflow of what Christ has done for and in me, my desires become His desires. My asks match the heart of the one who chose me first. This is where we find power in the truth of receiving what we ask for because when our desires match the desire of Jesus, the power of God shows up and shows out!
