Yesterday, Pastor Shawn taught us so well on some difficult topics from Jesus’ sermon on the mount…adultery, lust, divorce and oaths (Matthew 5:27-37). We’ll be taking a look at these throughout the week. Reflecting on my life, anytime I experienced defeat or death in these areas, as well as any others, it was without fail because my mind was set on my fleshly desires and my right to govern my own thoughts and actions. Early on, I didn’t even fully grasp that my thought life must be surrendered to the Spirit…that when our minds are not submitted to the His lordship, we are at great risk for ultimate defeat and loss. But when I embrace the guidance and authority of the Holy Spirit, I can experience great life and peace, even in difficult circumstances. Is there an area of struggle in your thought life that you haven’t yet surrendered to God? Settle it each day by welcoming Him into it! Oh Father, I ask for your guidance today in every area of my life and I yield to your way which is always for my benefit.
“For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on what the flesh desires; but those who live according to the Spirit, set their minds on what the Spirit desires. The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.”
Romans 8:5-6
