"When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”
Matthew 9:36-38

Jesus’ compassion towards me has transformed the way that I live. He has rescued me from difficult situations. He has shown his love for me through other people. He has redeemed and restored situations in my life that seemed beyond repair. Like in today’s passage, we were all once a part of that crowd that Jesus had compassion on. Compassion is the driving force for so much of what God does for us. It’s because of what Jesus has done in my life that I can have compassion on those around me that don’t yet know Him. We know the harvest is plentiful, meaning, there are a lot of people that don’t know him. We also know that we need more workers, meaning, more people reaching the lost. So, what do we need to do to reach those people? If compassion doesn’t come naturally to you, ask God for it. Ask God to burden your heart for the lost. Let’s go into the harvest field.
