Every day is a fresh adventure with the Lord. I usually have a few plans but many things happen spontaneously that entice me to do things that divert my attention from the fellowship I am having with Him. Mostly they are disguised as urgent tasks that demand immediate attention. It is becoming progressively clearer to me, in those demanding situations, that I can use them as opportunities to be still and occupy myself in deeper communion with Him. With God’s help I can ignore the unimportant burdens and simply let them dissolve into the illusionary world from which they came. Each time I conquer the compulsion to become preoccupied with meaningless activities, I become stronger and more resolute in my walk with Him. I pray that He will help me be consistently more discerning so that I can distinguish the vital from the trivial.
"Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."
James 4:7
"Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever."
