"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified."
Romans 8:28-30

Just as an artist sculpts a statue by chipping away everything in the marble that doesn’t look like the object they want to create, God is chiseling away the bad attitudes, characteristics and desires in my life that don’t reflect who He wants me to be.

When I started following Jesus I had yearnings for many things that were distracting me away from Him. At the time, if I classified them as good or evil, I could rationalize most of them into the good column.

Now I realize that anything, good or evil, that draws me away from God is a desire He wants to remove. Like the sculptor, He is chipping away at all of my wants that aren’t in alignment with the desires that Jesus had.

Through this process, He is conforming me to His image.

I pray that God will help me be still so He can form me into a person that will glorify Him.
