""Don't store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be."
Matthew 6:19-21

In Jesus’ well-known Sermon on the Mount, He instructs His people to not store up treasures here on earth yet store up treasures in heaven. We can trust and obey this principle solely because they are the words of Jesus. However, when we think about the things in Heaven, aren’t they actually far greater than anything here on earth? In a world driven by materialism, money, and power, it’s easy to let our eyes (and hearts) be persuaded that the things of the world will satisfy. But as soon as we find satisfaction in the things of the world, the next trend emerges, and we chase after that in a cycle that leaves us weary, tired, and unfulfilled. Jesus offers us true rest when we choose to invest in things with eternal purpose. And not only does He offer us rest, He offers us fulfillment when our treasures are stored in heaven.

What in your life are you storing in Heaven? Where are your treasures? What do they tell you about the desires of your heart?
