If worry was a profession, I would be a professional. Luckily, at the ripe age of almost 40, I’ve retired from my old ways. I used to worry about everything, you name it. Driving to HEB, leaving town, relationships, what people thought of me, fill in the blank. Worry is a miserable feeling that steals our joy, waters down the excitement of life, and cripples our ability to live. Worry takes God out of the equation. I had someone tell me once that I could write a coffee table book of ridiculous things to worry about…and they were right! Luckily, I never got around to writing my book. Instead, I pressed into the arms of Jesus and He set me free.
25 “That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? 27 Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?
