My husband says that every Marketing team has a picture of me on their wall. It’s true! I’m a sucker for all the trinkets, containers, merch, and anything you find on the end-cap of any store. I’m sure some of you can relate. But it’s also true that consumerism is a distraction. I find, at times, that I have to do a heart check. I have to pull back and re-evaluate what I am chasing. Am I chasing earthly treasures that are here one minute and dated, broken, and lost the next, or heavenly treasures that cannot be destroyed. Verse 21 says, “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” I want my heart to be about Jesus. It’s when our heart is about Him that we feel fully satisfied and content.
19 “Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. 21 Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.
