For many years I lived in a survival mode. I viewed everything that happened as an event for which I needed to defend, justify or explain myself to others. When I learned to trust the Lord with my life and turned my future over to Him, I became free from the burden of self-preservation. By doing this I am able to be more focused as an observer to what God is doing. I am continually filled with wonder and awe at the way He is always at work. Sometimes, by waiting for Him to reveal what He wants me to do, my ego tries to make me feel like I’m being irresponsible if I’m not busy. I pray that God will always help me to be still and trust Him when I feel the need to try and save myself.
"Then Jesus said to his disciples, 'Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it.'"
Matthew 16:24-25
"Anyone who loves their life will lose it, while anyone who hates their life in this world will keep it for eternal life. Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me."
John 12:25-26
