Before I came to faith in Christ my life had no eternal purpose. I lived for pleasure and there were infinite forms for me to follow in order to reward myself. Whether the opportunities were worthy or not never seemed to matter. As long as my chances of getting in deep trouble were slim, I lived for self-gratification. When I started following Jesus that all began to change. I progressively found myself living with a sense of confidence in the Lord and His ways. My choices were no longer determined by my pleasure but more and more by whether or not God would be pleased. Now I have come to the place where my determined purpose is that I may know the Lord more deeply and intimately. I thank God for putting new desires in my heart that are consistent with Him and His character.
"Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him and He will do this: He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun."
Psalm 34:4-6
"I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of His resurrection and participation in His sufferings, becoming like Him in his death, and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead. Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me."
Philippians 3:10-12
