The Blessing Behind the Yes

Krista Cosgrove // Community Group Leader
"Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work in us."
Ephesians 3:20
I really love the aspect of doing life with others and have seen it bless my life in so many ways. There's a reason we aren't supposed to do life alone. Our lives are blessed when we follow God's way.
I had already been going to a family community group when I was asked to lead a women's group. My life is very full in many ways, but as soon as I was asked to lead a group in my home, I felt like the Holy Spirit was leading me to say "yes" and start one. I had many feelings going into it… How would I find time? How would I have the capacity to add it to my plate among the many other things that make my life full? Will I have the ability to invest in these women that would join my group in the way they needed to be invested in?
The first week we met and we had 12 women show up and 10 children. I was blown away by the response and definitely felt like it was a need that all of these women had. In spite of the effort it took to make it happen, I saw how much women were blessed by me opening my home to them and that made it worth it. A lot of the women in my group have never plugged into Cypress Creek Church before and this is their first community group ever be a part of. I found out that a lot of them felt hesitant to take that step and join a group. Our time each week has turned into a really sweet time together encouraging each other, studying God's word, being there for one another and praying for each other. God has shown me that by responding to the door He opened for me, He was able to not only bless me, but all the other women in my women's community group as well. I look forward to each week that I get to prepare my home for these women to gather in and I'm eager each week to see how God will use our time together to strengthen us and grow us in our walk with Him.
While I said, "yes" to the door God was opening for me, and hoping He would use me to bless others, I unexpectedly have been very blessed by saying "yes". This experience has taught me a lot about walking through the doors that God opens for me and trusting that He will provide the capacity to do all that He has called me to do. Leading a women's group has become a big blessing in my life and something that I didn't know I needed in this season, but God knew I did. I am just glad I was obedient to say "yes" to His open door.
