This passage in Acts reminds me a lot of John 3:16, it’s a clear and powerful presentation of the gospel. What makes Acts 3:18–20 so impactful is that it doesn’t stop at salvation, It gives us a glimpse of what happens after we receive the good news. What is that good news? It’s not a half-off sushi deal, it’s that Jesus paid the debt we owed through His suffering and death. He took our place, and through His sacrifice, our sins are completely blotted out. That’s not just good news, it’s life-changing news, everything changes. In John 16:33, Jesus reminds us that life won’t suddenly become easy after we believe. In fact, it may get harder. But the difference now is that we’re not walking through life alonewe have the Holy Spirit, our Helper, with us in every situation.
Let’s be honest there are days we don’t feel joyful. Days when we’re worn down, discouraged, or overwhelmed. But even in those moments, we can cling to this truth that our sins are forgiven, and we can find refreshment in the presence of the Lord. We don’t need a mediator; we have direct access to Jesus, and that changes everything. He takes our few loaves and fish, our small offering and turns it into more than enough.
Where in your life do you need refreshment today? Is it in your stress? Your weariness? Your disappointment? The amazing thing is Jesus is already there. He’s in that exhausting meeting. He’s in the car that broke down (again). He’s with you in the silence when you feel alone. Inviting Him into those moments doesn’t require anything fancy. It simply means surrendering your pride, opening your heart, and asking Him to move through you.
