"Then they called them in again and commanded them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus. But Peter and John replied, “Which is right in God’s eyes: to listen to you, or to him? You be the judges! As for us, we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard.”
Acts 4:18-20

Have you ever noticed how much people talk about what they love? All around us, we hear countless conversations surrounding football, our favorite book series, the most popular TV show to watch, our favorite artist, our hobbies… you name it. When we love something, we can’t help but talk about it; it effortlessly flows out of us. Similarly, I want Jesus to fill my mind and thoughts in such a way where I can’t help but talk about Him. Just like Peter and John couldn’t help but speak about Jesus, the same Jesus is working and dwelling in our lives today. We have just as much access to the goodness of God as the disciples did.

We often think our hearts follow our words and actions, but it’s actually the opposite. My words and actions are going to follow where my heart lies. Peter and John were not afraid to teach or speak in the name of Jesus. It was simple; Jesus captured their whole heart. They did not fear what man could do or say to them, they couldn’t help but speak about what they had seen and heard. Everyday is a fresh opportunity to overflow with Jesus.

Jesus, our King. You are worthy of every thought we have, every word we speak, and everything we do. Would you give us mouths that can’t help but speak of all you’ve done for us? We pray that you would align our hearts to desire you above all else today. In Jesus’ name, amen.
