"Jesus is β€œβ€˜the stone you builders rejected, which has become the cornerstone.’ Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus."
Acts 4:11-13

Since ancient times, the cornerstone has historically been the most important piece of construction and building projects. The cornerstone is looked to as the guiding spot of the project, every remaining piece aligns with where the cornerstone has been placed; it is foundational. Jesus is our cornerstone, he is the center of our personal lives, and the center of the literal universe. From him, for him, to him, and through him, all things were made. We, as Christ’s church, now have an incredible opportunity to partner with God, and build upon the foundation that He has laid for us as himself.

It gives me comfort in knowing that Peter and John were noticed as uneducated, ordinary men, but with a noted courage that only the Lord can bestow. This takes off any pressure to make myself more desirable, likeable, or elevated in status. When we accept Christ as the chief cornerstone of our lives, he gives us the courage to do incredible things in his name and for his glory. Just like the divine appointment Peter and John were facing, He gives us heavenly assignments everyday to draw us closer to himself. He gives us countless opportunities to be a vessel for sharing his goodness. We have the cornerstone, therefore we have nothing to fear. Just like in building projects, if everything else falls, the cornerstone is physically unable to follow suit. He is the guiding spot for everything we need and everything that is placed in our lives.

So, whether our divine assignment for today is having a conversation in a grocery store, meeting a friend in a coffee shop, or working behind a desk at an office job, the Lord gives us opportunities to bring glory to His name. My encouragement for us all today is that we would give Jesus the space in our hearts to be who He says He is. May we fall more in love with him as we seek to know him and serve him today.

Father, we see you as our Savior, and we want to experience you as our leader. Help us rely on your foundation and not our own. Jesus we love you, and I pray that we can lay face down in your presence knowing that you are Holy. Amen.
