It was the year 2014 when I started visiting a small church in Cuba because of some friends who had invited me. At that time, I was 19 years old, and I felt a deep emptiness inside me; I felt very lonely, with no one that loved me and with too many bad thoughts. But God had wonderful plans for me, and when I entered that little church, everyone there made me feel part of a family, loved and taken care of.
However, I would also begin a struggle in my home because my mother did not agree with the decision I was making “to follow Christ.” She began to demand that I not go anymore; we argued about everything, and she always gave me chores for Sunday morning so that I could not attend. In her mind, I was making the worst decision of my life. But as this verse says, we give THANKS to God at EVERY moment and every second.
I thanked Him and prayed that He would give me a grateful heart. I learned to bend my knees and pray for every battle because I knew that He was the one fighting for me. Eventually, my mom saw the work that God had done in my life and no longer stopped me from going to church; she demanded that I go! I made the best decision of my life, and it has impacted me ever since!
