"For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience,"
Colossians 1:9-11

I love how important prayer was to Paul. Paul’s requests to God remind me of something beautiful… God does not withhold good things. God does not withhold wisdom, knowledge, understanding, and insight from his beloved. God does not withhold all power according to his glorious might, and his Spirit does not withhold producing fruit in us through our obedience. We can be assured that God is not shocked by what our mind, body, or soul are in need of. Not only for ourselves, but also for our friends, co-workers, ministry partners, family, and anyone else God chooses to put into our path.

I used to be overwhelmed by my wandering mind during prayer. Now I’ve learned to view it as a gift. My wandering mind reveals where my heart is. My wandering mind points me to the true needs of myself and of my friends. Maybe those things my mind is trying to suppress in prayer are really just indicators of my true needs that are aching to be met. He is making you beautiful all within his timing. I encourage you to spend some time in prayer today… And when your mind starts to wander into worries of your kids, friends, yourself, that one awful situation, that to-do list, your co-worker, frustrations, or anything else, just take a deep breath and bring it to the Lord. Our God meets our every need, he fills us up with the knowledge and insight to love him and those around us step by step. What a gift we can simply receive and rest in today.
