As we saw in yesterday’s devotional, if we are desperate for God’s Word as if it were our food for the day, we will bring Heaven to Earth in our own lives. This is possible because God uses us to reflect who he is as he transforms us through the redemptive power of Christ’s death on the cross. He uses us to testify of his love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. If we are truly seeking him with all of our hearts, then these fruits of the spirit will be evident in our lives, and we won’t be able to help but let those around us know where our hope for eternal Heaven comes from. As we reach our neighbors and beyond, they too will come to know Christ and join us in the city set on a hill, giving all glory to God!
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”
Matthew 5:14-16
