““Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.”
Matthew 5:6

Don’t be confused here; this is not a striving but a hunger and a thirst. When you’re hungry, you can’t help but think about food. It’s astounding what people are willing to eat or do when confronted with a roaring belly acting as their god, telling them to consume the next edible thing they see. We see this in Genesis 25:29-34 when Esau trades his birthright with Jacob for a bowl of lentil soup. When we desire God in a desperate way such as this, we will grab onto every command and every direction from the holy spirit in a way that transforms us and brings Heaven to Earth through our lives. When we consume the Word of God, pray, and listen to him as our daily bread, we understand more of his character and the significance of the Gospel. Jeremiah 29:13 says that when We seek him with all our hearts, we will find him. This means getting to experience more of his grace, peace, joy, love, provision, and so on. There is no greater satisfaction than knowing the all-good and sovereign God of the universe loves us and that we belong to him.
