"When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dreamed."
Psalm 126:1

Many people recognize the name Anne Frank as the author of “The Diary of a Young Girl,” which documents her experiences hiding from the Nazis during World War II.  Despite losing her home, many friends, and her freedom, Anne continued to dream of becoming a writer and publishing a book.  The ability to continue to dream, even during difficult circumstances, is a true sign of resilience and hope.

Many times in my life, the enemy has used painful experiences and traumatic events to create a sense of hopelessness in me.  It is in those moments that I must remember the Lord is my hope.  As the prophet Isaiah wrote, “But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

Is your hope in your own strength and willpower?  If so, it may be hard to see past the pain and actually dream of something better.  In contrast, if your hope is in the Lord, you will be able to dream even when things are difficult.
