"When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.” Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven't caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.” When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break."
Luke 5:4-6

This past year, my husband was looking for a new job. We had two really good options. One was something my husband was super interested in, but it was a significant pay cut and meant we had to move three hours from family. The other job would have allowed us to stay in our home with little to no financial change, but it was not something that excited my husband to be his day-to-day. We went back and forth on which job to take and whether we should relocate our family three hours away. We prayed and prayed. We questioned if EVERYTHING was a sign or not. In the end, it was this verse, Luke 5:4-6, that really stood out to us.

We loved everything about the job my husband ended up taking here in San Marcos besides the pay, but sometimes you just have to trust God and make the necessary sacrifices. In this verse, I think it’s important too to point out that He did not command the fish and say, “Fish get in the boat,” but He commanded the disciple to “let down the nets for a catch.”

Sometimes, we have to remember that God will set amazing opportunities before us, but unless we trust Him and follow His plan, we can easily miss some great things that He has planned for us.

We are so grateful that we took the job here, and therefore, have met so many wonderful friends and have found our church family here at Cypress Creek Church!
