"And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.”
Matthew 28:18
"The Father loves the Son and has given all things into his hand.”
John 3:35

These two verses are a powerful reminder of the God we follow: not a distant idea or powerless figure, but the living, personal, all-powerful God is the One who conquered death and holds all authority in His hands. So, what does that mean for you and me? It means that when we face anxiety, depression, sin struggles, or broken relationships, we don’t have to fight our way out on our own. We let God fight our battles for us. Even though we often sing worship songs like “God, fight my battles,” many of us struggle to actually live that out. Living it out doesn’t mean waiting for someone to hurt us and then saying, “Okay God, your turn. FIGHT!” It means that every single day, in the quiet moments when we’re tempted to numb out, give in, or believe lies about who we are—we choose to surrender not to the struggle, but to Jesus.

It means that when we wake up feeling empty, when we battle laziness, insecurity, temptation, or shame, we don’t rely on our own strength. Instead, we follow the example of Mary who sat at the feet of Jesus. We spend time in His Word, we listen to truth in worship, we pray honestly, and we let Him do the transforming work in us. What if we reminded ourselves every morning: The same God who walked out of the grave and conquered death now lives in me? How different would we live? How much more peace, boldness, and joy would we carry?

Paul tells us in Ephesians that because of Christ, we gain confidence and boldness. He says our lives are a display of God’s power, not just to people, but to angels and demons. When he talks about spiritual warfare in Ephesians 6, Paul reminds us that our real battle isn’t against people—it’s against spiritual forces. But here’s the amazing part: Jesus holds authority over all of it. Heaven and earth. Every power. Every struggle. When Jesus would encounter a demon it was never an equal one versus one fight. It was often legions of demons cowering by the very presence of Jesus just being there because they knew exactly who He was. That is the God that I follow. So let’s remind ourselves of that truth every morning: Jesus has all authority. He is with us. And He is for us. Let Him replace fear and anxiety with the truth of His presence and power.
