I am so thankful that God is the lifter of my head. The first time I experienced what it meant to put my hope in Jesus was when I was a young wife longing to be a mom. As I prayed and waited for God to answer the desire of my heart, I came across today’s scripture that sustained me until God answered my prayers. Little did I know that was only the beginning. Since then my hope in Jesus has carried me through multiple job layoffs, challenging financial seasons, scary health diagnoses, new business adventures, the loss of a loved one, the loss of our church home, and hard relationships. When defined, hope is a confident expectation and firm assurance in God’s promises.
A few years ago my husband was experiencing ongoing health issues and it was a really scary and tough season. One day, I had someone ask me, “How do I do it?” I said, “Jesus.” To extrapolate that, my hope was not in my circumstances or doctors, it was in Jesus who promises me that He is always with me and He will never leave me or forsake me. As I write today, I’m happy to report we are in a season, for the first time in a very long time, where my husband is healthy. I am so thankful that because He has risen, we can have hope!
